Six people injured when two jets collide on the ground at Minneapolis airport
MINNEAPOLIS Hydraulic problems are being blamed for the collision of two jets on the ground at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Six people were injured in the accident but no passengers were hurt.
A Northwest Airlines D-C-Nine that had just arrived from Columbus, Ohio, lost steering control as it taxied to the gate. It struck a Northwest Airbus backing away from its gate.
After the crash, the D-C-Nine appeared to be partially lodged underneath the Airbus. The top of the D-C-Nine's cockpit area made contact with the Airbus' wing.
Four of the injured people were crew members from the D-C-Nine. The other two were ground workers. The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
