Choppy seas again stop search for body of boy who fell from boat
CAPE MAY POINT, N.J. Once again, choppy seas off New Jersey have forced crews to suspend the search for a Boy Scout missing for two days after falling from a boat during a whale watch. State police had been using sonar equipment to scan the ocean floor for the body Nicholas Johs.
The 14-year-old from New York was not wearing a life jacket when he fell in Saturday during a Scout trip aboard the "Cape May Whale Watcher Two." Someone quickly threw him a life preserver, but the boy could not reach it.
The search of the 49-degree waters where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Delaware Bay was called off yesterday because of choppy conditions. It resumed this morning amid more favorable weather, before being stopped again in the afternoon.
