Providence workers face new residency deadline
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

Now an update on a story Eyewitness News has been watching for months. Certain Providence city workers have a new deadline to prove they live within the capital city limits.

More than 600 city employees required to live in the city have a deadline of 4:30 PM today, Monday, to submit paperwork proving they live in Providence. But police officers and firefighters are getting an extension; they don't have to re-certify until June.

Providence's police and fire unions are contesting the certification requirement in Superior Court.
