Woman dies in house fire in Hopkinton
HOPKINTON, R.I. (AP) -- A woman has died in a house fire in Hopkinton.
Fire crews responded to the blaze on Blue Pond Trail on Friday. They found Jenice Nichols dead in her bedroom. Fire officials say the 40-year-old Nichols was believed to be asleep when the fire began in a room next door. Her four-year-old daughter was at preschool at the time of the fire. Another daughter also was not home.
Nichols worked at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in
Connecticut. Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire District Fire Chief Fred Stanley says the fire was accidental. He says itÔŅĹs the first fatality in a structure fire in 40 years.
