Narragansett tribe gets federal grant for health center
WASHINGTON The Narragansett Indian Tribe is getting a half million dollar Indian Community Development Block Grant. The funds come from the US Department of Housing and Urban Developmen. They will go toward the construction of a new health care center for the tribe.
The tribe is undertaking the construction project because it's current facility is inadequate for its needs.
Counting the most recent award, the tribe has secured 2.3 million dollars for the facility. Another 1.5 million is needed.
