House passes Amber Alert bill to find adults with dementia
PROVIDENCE, R.I. House lawmakers have passed a bill that would allow the use of the Amber Alert System to find missing adults with dementia. The bill's sponsor says the system has been very successful in finding missing children and could also be used to help law enforcement find dementia patients.
The Amber Alert system gets information out quickly to the public by broadcasting a report about a missing child.
Amber Alerts are named after Amber Hagerman, a 9 year old girl abducted in Arlington, Texas, and later found murdered.
