Showdown vote today for U.N. nominee Bolton
CAPITOL HILL The allegations against the president's pick for United Nations ambassador may not be enough to stop the nomination. The Republican chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee says that Michael Bolton's management style and judgment do not "warrant" rejection.
The committee votes later today on Bolton's appointment.
Democrats are hoping to defeat the selection, but are outnumbered ten-to-eight.
Bolton is said to be a harsh critic of the U-N bureaucracy and is considered a provocative choice to be a representative.
Most allegations after his nomination concern his personal dealings and judgments. Some colleagues portray him as an abusive hothead.
