Yosemite Falls restoration designed to improve popular tourist draw
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. The highest waterfall in North America has become more tourist friendly. A 13-point-five (m) million dollar restoration project of Yosemite Falls was unveiled yesterday. It includes wider trails and a larger viewing area.
The waterfall is among the most visited spots in Yosemite National Park, with officials saying three and a-half (m) million people visit it each year.
Not everyone is happy with the work.
One environmental group says the park will suffer from more tourists.
A spokeswoman for the group Friends of Yosemite Valley says the makeover is "way, way overdone" and "degrades the natural environment as well as the visitor's experience."
