DSW Nationwide Shoe Store
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

If you've paid by credit card at DSW lately, your identity may be in jeopardy.  Federal officials say a hacker ripped off credit card numbers of thousands of unsuspecting consumers.

DSW a nationwide shoe warehouse store is the latest target in stolen credit card information.  Our Eyewitness News camera was rolling as we broke the news to a number of DSW customers that their financial information may have been ripped off. Identity theft is a real possibility if you've used your credit card here within the past 3 months.  The company discovered the theft and reported it to federal authorities.

Call 12 For Action has learned that of the DSW stores nationwide, 102 were confirmed hacked.  Whether this Warwick store is one of them...store officials wouldn't tell us.

RI Attorney General Patrick Lynch feels the store has the responsibility to inform it's customers quickly...Lynch just introduced a bill that would require any business experiencing a security breach to immediately notify all Rhode Island residents in it's database that their identities may have been compromised.

DSW told Eyewitness News that even though they've confirmed 102 stores have been hacked, that doesn't mean the other 73 weren't.  Eyewitness News has also learned that Lexis Nexis is reporting today that 32-thousand personal records of its customers have been stolen.

Customers of both businesses are being asked to contact their credit card companies immediately to report any discrepancies.
