Eyewitness News named 2005 News Station of the Year by the Associated Press Broadcasters
WPRI NAMED NEWS STATION OF THE YEAR BY THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
WPRI WINS FIVE ASSOCIATED PRESS BROADCAST AWARDS
For the second straight year, Eyewitness News was named News Station of the Year by theMassachusetts and Rhode Island Associated Press Broadcasters. The awards will be handed out on April 2, 2005.
Eyewitness News won five awards, more than any other Providence Television station.
WPRI also won first place honors for:
Best Newscast, Eyewitness News at 6
Best Weathercast, Pinpoint Weather
Feature reporting, Nightclub Fire, One year later
Best sports program, Red Sox Post Game wrap from the World Series

WPRI/WNAC competed in the B television division, which includes Providence and Springfield, MA.
WPRI 12 is owned by the Rhode Island based LIN Television. WNAC is owned by Super Towers and operated by LIN Television. WPRI also programs the Pinpoint Weather Station, a 24 hour local weather channel operating on digital TV and on COX Communications in Rhode Island .
