Chief state judge pulls personal Web site
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

PROVIDENCE, R.I. The chief justice of Rhode Island's Supreme Court has pulled his personal Web site.

Frank Williams says the site, www.frankjwilliams.com, has generated unnecessary public attention. He says he launched it earlier this month to deal with speaking requests, NOT to generate publicity.

One legal ethics expert told The Providence Journal that the judge appeared to be using his official position to solicit business as a speaker.

The site touted the judge's knowledge of Abraham Lincoln. It also had dozens of photos of the judge with high-profile personalities and includes some of his personal interests. The judge paid a court employee 15-hundred dollars to build it.
