Mardi Gras wrapping up today
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

NEW ORLEANS This is Fat Tuesday -- and the beer and beads are plentiful on Bourbon Street.

Eleven parades are scheduled to roll in New Orleans beginning this morning and the eating and drinking will continue until the Carnival celebration ends at midnight.

Crowds have been a bit smaller for the pre-Lenten bash in the Big Easy this year. Mardi Gras fell earlier on the calendar and the weather has been cloudy and rainy.

One reveler in a skimpy costume says the wet weather isn't a problem -- as long as it's not cold.

Another says the partying is "no place for the weak."
