Gasoline prices rising again
CAMARILLO, Calif. High crude oil prices and increased seasonal demand are leading to higher gas prices. Over the past two weeks the average price for a gallon of gasoline climbed six cents. Analyst Trilby Lundberg says that as of Friday, the combined average price for all grades was just under one-dollar, 94 cents a gallon. That compares to one dollar, 87 cents a gallon on January 21st.
The Lundberg Survey of seven-thousand gas stations found that self-serve regular was priced at one dollar, 91 cents a gallon, while premium averaged two dollars, ten cents.
Lundberg says consumer demand for gasoline is recovering following bad weather in January. She also says if OPEC cuts production, more increases are likely. Oil prices are now about 40 percent higher than they were one year ago.
