Single mother charged in death of her three children

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. A 33 year-old Alabama woman is being held without bond in the deaths of her three children. Nathshay Ward is charged with capital murder in Huntsville.

Police found the bodies of her nine and eleven year-old daughters and her eight year-old son in separate bedrooms in Ward's apartment on Friday. Authorities believe the children had been dead for at least several days.

Medical examiners are working to determine the causes and times of death.

Huntsville police say the children had not attended school since the holiday break. Social workers from the Alabama Department of Human resources tried to visit the apartment in December, but Ward refused to let them in.

The apartment's utilities had been turned off in mid-January, and the single mother was facing eviction.
