Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

LIBERAL, Kan. The women of Liberal, Kansas, are looking to continue their six-year winning streak against their counterparts in Olney, England, in the International Pancake Race.

The 56th annual International Pancake Race is set for Tuesday, with pancake-toting women in Liberal and Olney facing off in parallel races.

The fastest finisher lays claim to bragging rights for her and her city for a year.

A three-day celebration leading up to the big contest begins today, with pancake-eating contests, flapjack-flipping competitions and other activities.

The Fat Tuesday race is a friendly international competition that dates back to 1950.
