Oregon activists sue against same-sex marriage ban
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

SALEM, Ore. The battle over same-sex marriage is heating up again in Oregon.

A gay rights group has filed suit against changes to the state's constitution that ban same-sex couples from marrying.

A spokesman for Basic Rights Oregon says the measure violates state law by making multiple changes to the constitution instead of just one.

An attorney who worked to get the ban passed last fall calls the challenge "a very weak theory."

Voters in Oregon and ten other states approved bans on same-sex marriage last year. Similar challenges have been filed in Oklahoma and Georgia.
