Elmont, New York-AP -- Sloppy and muddy is the track at Belmont Park on a day of rain on Long Island. Six horses will soon waddle their way through the mess for a mile and a-half as "Funny Cide" makes a run at becoming thoroughbred racing's first Triple Crown winner in 25 years. (Chicago-AP) -- Kerry Wood outpitched Roger Clemens at Wrigley Field today, and Eric Karros popped a three-run homer that helped the Chicago Cubs beat the New York Yankees 5-to-2. Cubs first baseman Hee Seop Choi (hee sahp choi) suffered a concussion in a fall after a collision with Wood and will be hospitalized overnight for observation.
(Anaheim, California-AP) -- The Anaheim Mighty Ducks host the New Jersey Devils in Game Six of the Stanley Cup final this evening. The Devils lead the series 3-games-to-2 and will clinch the N-H-L championship with a victory tonight or, if they lose, will host Game Seven on Monday.
(Undated-AP) -- Rain in the east has played havoc with sports schedules. The P-G-A, L-P-G-A and Senior P-G-A Championship tournaments are all postponed for a day, and two baseball games, Oakland at Philadelphia and Seattle at New York, are washed out and rescheduled as parts of doubleheaders tomorrow.
(Coral Gables, Florida-AP) -- University of Miami athletic director Paul Dee says the school's possible move from the Big East to the A-C-C is not derailed but the pace is slowing down and the change could take a long time. In the wake of a lawsuit filed to prevent the move, Dee says he sees the process slowing down until everybody gets together.
