School bus driver charged with DUI after sideswiping van
EASTON, Md. A Maryland school bus driver has been fired after he allegedly drove while drunk and sideswiped a parked van. Authorities in Easton say there were 15 children aboard the bus at the time of the accident yesterday afternoon. No one was hurt.
The assistant superintendent of schools in Talbot County says the bus was pulling into the parking lot of the Y-M-C-A when the accident occurred. The driver was arrested after failing a field sobriety test.
Talbot County bus drivers are subject to random drug and alcohol tests. The assistant superintendent says the driver had worked for the school system for several years and had always tested clean.
