Apple's iPod in short supply
SAN JOSE, Calif. Those wanting to get Apple Computer's popular iPod music player this holiday season may have to search high and low for the devices. Retailers say they're struggling to keep up with demand for both the four-gigabyte device and the 20-gigabyte music player.
Amazon-dot-com has sold out of the ones it had. And Circuit City is running out as soon as they get them.
Wall Street analysts had expected the company to sell about four (m) million of the devices this holiday season.
And while Apple isn't saying how many have sold, company officials say "we're making and shipping iPods as fast as we can."
Best Buy says most of its stores should still have some in stock but don't wait until the last minute.
