Last day of hearings on control of Hope High School
PROVIDENCE, R.I. Who will control Hope High School? No answer yet, but today is the last day of the show-cause hearings to determine if the state will take over the Providence high school. The hearings allow the superintendent and the school to convince the state education commission that the school's future should stay in their hands.
Superintendent Melody Johnson says her department, along with the teachers' union, have a plan. But they say they need two more years to put it in place.
But others say the high school is hopeless, and it should be taken over by the state.
The state education commissioner is expected to make a decision next month.
