Blue Cross challenges state order on directorsÔŅĹ benefits
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island is trying to persuade a judge to allow it to continue providing free health and dental insurance to a half-dozen members of its board of directors.
The Department of Business Regulation earlier this month ordered the nonprofit insurer to stop paying its board of directorsÔŅĹ health and dental benefits.
The insurer is in Superior Court seeking a stay of the state order.
Judge Michael Silverstein has scheduled a conference on the issue this morning.
