Friend says Laci's family may speak out after first of the year
MODESTO, California A friend says Laci Peterson's family is physically and emotionally exhausted after Scott Peterson's trial. But Kim Petersen -- no relation to the family -- says the relatives also know that the nearly two-year ordeal isn't over yet. Scott Peterson will be formally sentenced in late February and his lawyers are already planning to appeal his conviction and sentence.
Kim Petersen tells N-B-C the family may have something to say publicly after the first of the year about the jury's recommendation that Scott Peterson be sentenced to death.
She says the family appreciates the jury's commitment to the trial, which lasted more than six months.
The family spokeswoman says the pain will ease for Laci Peterson's mother, Sharon Rocha, but it will never go away entirely.
