Charlestown eyes bike and bird trail
CHARLESTOWN, R.I. Charlestown has an idea to showcase its outdoor beauty: It wants to create a bike and birding trail. The town's economic commission is working with various agencies to establish a Coastal Rhode Island Biking and Birding Trails system that would be centered around the area's wildlife refuges and parks. Officials hope to have the trail in place by March.
The trails would be between Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge and the Quonochontaug Breachway. Officials expect the heaviest usage to be when the bird migrate through the area between April and Thanksgiving.
