NEW ORLEANS Dustin Almond passed for 247 yards and a touchdown as Southern Mississippi rolled to an easy 31-to-10 win over North Texas in the New Orleans Bowl.

Almond also ran for a T-D in the Golden Eagles' first bowl victory in four years. Anthony Harris had 104 yards on 14 carries while allowing Mississippi State to sustain several lengthy scoring drives.

Linebacker Michael Boley was named the M-V-P of the first bowl game of the potseason. He returned an interception 62 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. He also had eight tackles and two sacks.

North Texas tailback Jamario Thomas ran 30 times for 92 yards to finish the season with one-thousand-801 yards. Thomas fell 62 yards short of Ron Dayne's freshman record.
