Rescue workers recover third body in weekend of Utah avalanches; another man missing
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

SALT LAKE CITY Weekend avalanches in Utah's backcountry have now killed at least three people, and a fourth man remains missing.

Rescue crews recovered the body of a 32-year-old man who was trapped while snowshoeing with a friend Saturday in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest east of Salt Lake City. The search for the man's friend has been suspended because of darkness.

A skier was killed Friday when he was swept up in an avalanche in the national forest. On Saturday, a man died after being buried in four feet of snow while snowmobiling in Wasatch County. Another man was saved after his snowmobile triggered an avalanche near Bountiful Peak.

The U-S Forest Service is warning that conditions remain strong for avalanches in areas that aren't controlled.
