Four Indicted in Graduate Student Murder
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- A Providence County grand jury on Friday indicted four men in last summer's murder of a Johnson & Wales University graduate, the state attorney general's office announced.
The four men are Lazaro Martinez, 19, Wayman Kevin Turner, 36, Ramon Virola, 27, and Martin White, 36. They face one count each of murder, assault, assault with intent to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and count each of discharging a firearm while committing a violent crime, death resulting. Some face additional charges. All are scheduled to be arraigned on January 5th in Providence County Superior Court.
Christopher Nelson, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was shot in the chest on August 16 after the men burst into his apartment and demanded money, according to police. Nelson was shot as he allegedly tried to wrestle a gun away. He died at a hospital.
