Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. Another troops deployment this morning.

This time, ten members of the 143rd Airlift Squadron were deployed to southwest Asia to support Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

The ten who left today will be joined on Monday by 48 others.

The troops are deploying a new transport aircraft -- a C130J30. This is the first time the United States has deployed this plane during the war in Iraq.

Currently, the Rhode Island National Guard has 634 members deployed in seven countries around the world.

The deployments in support of the war on terrorism are the largest since World War One.
