Condit lawyer: Ex-congressman ready to reveal sexual history in slander case
NEW YORK Gary Condit's lawyer says the ex-congressman is ready to answer questions about his sexual history in order to pursue his slander suit against Vanity Fair correspondent Dominick Dunne. Condit sued two years ago, saying Dunne's statements led people to believe the then-California congressman was hiding information about intern Chandra Levy.
In September, Condit refused to answer questions about his sexual history at a deposition. The judge ruled this week that it was either answer the questions or forget the suit.
A magistrate judge will be present when Condit is questioned again by Dunne's lawyers, to bar irrelevant questions.
Condit reportedly told police he'd had an affair with Levy but knew nothing of her disappearance.
Levy's remains were discovered in a Washington D-C park in May 2002. Condit is not considered a suspect in the homicide investigation.
