Red Sox management to meet with Martinez in Dominican Republic
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

(AP) -- Red Sox principal owner John Henry and C-E-O Larry Lucchino plan to meet with free agent pitcher Pedro Martinez in the Dominican Republic tomorrow (Wednesday).

The two say they will meet with the 33-year-old right-hander during a trip to attend the one-year anniversary of the opening of the Red Sox baseball academy outside of Santo Domingo in Martinez ÔŅĹs home country.

But Lucchino says itÔŅĹs not intended to be a business meeting.

Martinez met with New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner last month and has received offers from the Red Sox and New York Mets.

MartinezÔŅĹs agent Fernando Cuza did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
