Ten dead following rebel attack on Afghan troops
KABUL, Afghanistan Even as Hamid Karzai was sworn in as Afghanistan's first popularly elected president, a reminder of the instability Afghanistan still faces. At least ten people are dead following a militant attack on Afghan troops near the Pakistani border.
A senior Afghan commander tells The Associated Press about 250 militants armed with assault rifles and rockets attacked a militia base in Khost overnight.
He says U-S forces didn't help, just coming in the morning "to ask questions."
The hour-long battle left four soldiers and six militants dead.
