No Varitek in Red SoxÔŅĹs baseball card collection
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

BOSTON (AP) -- ToppsÔŅĹ new baseball card collection honoring BostonÔŅĹs World Series winning team has a glaring omission: catcher Jason Varitek.

Topps said the omission was unavoidable. Varitek is the only Red Sox who hasnÔŅĹt signed a contract with the company.

The company said Varitek is the only prominent player in all of major league baseball missing from its lineup.

A Topps spokesman said he has no idea why Varitek isnÔŅĹt interested in being on a baseball card.

A call by the Boston Herald to VaritekÔŅĹs agent wasnÔŅĹt immediately returned.
