Mount St. Helens experiences biggest earthquake since mid-October
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

MOUNT SAINT HELENS Mount St. Helens continues rumbling.

The volcano today registered its strongest earthquake in more than a month, with a three-point-one magnitude quake rattling the crater.

Scientists believe it was just a bigger version of the small quakes that have been happening about once a minute for the past few weeks. They don't believe a major earthquake is imminent.

A new lava formation began building in the crater soon after the mountain reawakened last month. The new dome and uplifted floor beneath it now stands about 750 feet high.
