Red Sox take the next step in their pursuit of Carl Pavano
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

BOSTON (AP) -- The Red Sox take the next step in their pursuit of free-agent pitcher Carl Pavano when the right-hander visits today.

Hell reportedly accompany general manager Theo Epstein to Curt Schillings home in Medfield.

Pavano was originally traded by Boston to Montreal for Pedro Martinez and is coming off his best season. He was 18-and-8 with Florida.

Even if they sign Pavano, the Red Sox are interested in keeping Martinez, who is also a free agent.

So far, none of the Red Sox 16 free agents has signed.
