Schilling ankle examined Sunday; surgery still scheduled for Tuesday
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

BOSTON (AP) -- Doctors examined Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schillings ankle today in preparation for his ankle surgery this week.

The ace starters exam had been pushed off twice in two days, first on Friday, then again yesterday, before being rescheduled for today.

The team said surgery for Schillings torn ankle tendon sheath was still scheduled for Tuesday.

Doctors put stitches in his ankle to keep the tendon in place, enabling him to pitch in the sixth game of the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees and again in the second World Series game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
