Curt Schilling will have his injured right ankle examined tomorrow
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

BOSTON (AP) -- Red Sox ace Curt Schilling will have his injured right ankle examined tomorrow, with surgery possible early next week.

Red Sox spokesman Glenn Geffner says Schillings ankle was irritated by a lotion doctors used while performing an unprecedented procedure to enable him to pitch in the playoffs.

Doctors need to wait until the inflammation goes away to examine the ankle.

Schilling won game six of the ALCS against the Yankees and game two of the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals despite a torn tendon sheath that caused the tendon to flop over the ankle.

Doctors put sutures in his ankle to keep the ankle in place and enable him to pitch.
