Kennedy, Rogers vote as they vie for the 1st Congressional
PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (AP) -- Congressman Patrick Kennedy and his Republican rival David Rogers have cast their ballotsÔŅĹand will now wait with the rest of the state for the outcome.
Kennedy says that itÔŅĹs always a bit awkward to see your name on the ballot. And, he says itÔŅĹs also nerve-racking to know people could be voting for your opponent.
For his part, Rogers says heÔŅĹs excited about the campaign, and a lot of work was done to get to this day.
He thanked Kennedy for a well-fought race. He says the pair ran a civil campaign and have given Rhode Islanders a clear choice for the First Congressional District.
Rogers is a former Navy SEAL who also ran against Kennedy in 2000. Kennedy is going for his sixth-term in the US House.
