Red Sox to participate in rolling rally through Boston
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

BOSTON (AP) -- Red Sox fans will have an opportunity on Saturday to thank the team for breaking the so-called Curse of the Bambino and bringing home the first World Series championship since 1918.

Boston Mayor Tom Menino is describing the event not as a parade but as a rolling rally. It will begin at 10 a-m Saturday at Boylston and Kilmarnock Streets near Fenway Park and finish on Cambridge Street, past City Hall.

Unlike the two Super Bowl parades held for the Patriots, the event for the Red Sox will NOT stop at City Hall Plaza for a rally and speeches.

Red Sox president Larry Lucchino says Saturdays event will also give players an opportunity to say thank you loudly and passionately to the fans.

Lucchino also says the team plans to bring the World Series trophy to rallies in the five other New England states over the next few weeks.
