Half-ton man has stomach surgery
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. A South Dakota man, who recently weighed more than a-half ton, is recovering from obesity surgery. Patrick Deuel had surgery yesterday to reduce the size of his stomach so he can't eat as much.
He's already lost 421 pounds since he checked into a Sioux Falls hospital four months ago tipping the scales at one-thousand-72 pounds.
When he checked in, he had trouble breathing and had diabetes and high blood pressure. Doctors said his weight was killing him.
He credits a 12-hundred-calorie-a-day diet and exercise with getting him out of bed for the first time since last fall.
Before the surgery, he said caregivers are noticing improvements.
He told local T-V that now people don't look at him when he moves and think "My God, he is going to fall down."
