Senator spar over missing weapons
NEW YORK Two leading senators are trading charges over those missing explosives in Iraq. Georgia Republican Saxby Chambliss says the 380 tons of conventional explosives were already gone from a former Iraqi military facility when U-S troops invaded in April 2003. On N-B-C's "Today" show, Chambliss accused the Kerry campaign of politicizing what he calls a "myth" -- that the explosives went missing under the noses of American forces.
Democratic Senator Joseph Biden of Delaware says U-N nuclear inspectors told the U-S the explosives were at the site. He tells N-B-C it's further evidence the U-S went into battle with too few troops.
Biden says the missing weapons issue is "so much bigger than Kerry and so much bigger than Bush."
