SAN FRANCISCO Time is running out on a chance to own a piece of baseball history. The online auction for Barry Bonds' 700th home-run ball ends today.
As of last night, 242 bids had been placed on the ball since it went up for sale earlier this month, with the bidding surpassing the 820-thousand-dollar mark.
Steve Williams got the ball after a scramble in the bleachers in San Francisco on September 17th.
He was later sued by a fan who said he should get the ball because he had it locked behind his knees at the bottom of the scrum. However, a judge refused to hold up the sale.
Bonds became the first member of the 700-homer club in 31 years, joining Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron.
