Workers on Barge Sustain Burns in Minor Accident
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Two people have sustained minor injuries after an industrial accident on a barge in Providence.
The accident happened shortly before six p-m. The Fire Department and police are investigating. Deputy assistant fire chief Henry Cochrane says two subcontractors were burned when they were repairing a hydraulic line.
One of the men was torching the line, when it burst under the pressure. The flash burnt one man's eyebrows and lit the jacket of the other one.
The men put the fire out using a fire extinguisher. They were transported to Rhode Island Hospital. The accident caused about five gallons of hydraulic fluid to spill.
Cochrane says he notified the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
