Suppan faces old team in Game 3
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The St. Louis CardinalsÔŅĹ starter in Game Three of the World Series is no stranger to the Red Sox.

Jeff Suppan twice pitched for Boston, most recently in 2003. He was acquired in a midseason trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates, but struggled with the Red Sox and was left off last yearÔŅĹs postseason roster.

Suppan signed with the Cardinals before this season and won 16 games for the National League champions. And heÔŅĹs been the teamÔŅĹs most consistent pitcher in the postseason with a 2-and-1 record and a two-point-eight-four earned run average.

Suppan came up with the Red Sox in 1995 after being their second-round draft pick two years earlier. His first stint in Boston lasted three seasons.
