Housing corporations receive $7 million federal funds
PROVIDENCE, R.I. Two nonprofit housing corporations are getting about seven-point-four (m) million dollars in federal grants to help provide housing for low-income, elderly residents. The bulk of the money goes to Valley Affordable Housing Corporation. It will use it to build 47 units in Smithfield by 2006.
The other money goes to Coastal Housing Corporation to build five units in Portsmouth.
The funds come from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The announcement was made by Senator Lincoln Chafee.
