A dubious honor for the cadillac Escalade
UNDATED It's an honor owners would surely forego, but for the second year running, car thieves are targeting the Cadillac Escalade more than any other vehicle. Senior vice president Kim Hazelbaker of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says part of the reason is what the Escalade comes with. He notes that the vehicle's wheel and tire packages can be worth up to ten-thousand dollars.
Hazelbaker says having an expensive part that can be taken off in a matter of minutes without even entering the vehicle can be very attractive to would-be thieves.
The institute's list is assembled by looking at theft claims per one-thousand insured vehicles from model years 2001 to 2003. Among the lowest-ranking vehicles _ the Buick LeSabre and Ford Taurus station wagon
