Back to the Web for Christmas shopping.
UNDATED Used to be it was just consumers with high incomes who were shopping online. Not anymore. According to Forrester Research, today's online shopper looks more like the average store shopper, with less income and less education. Senior analyst Carrie Johnson says that leads her to expect an increase in Web sales this Christmas season of about 20 percent to 13-point-two (b) billion dollars. Sales totaled eleven (b) billion dollars a year ago.
Johnson says people shop on the Web for a variety of reasons including convenience, low prices and items that may not be available in a local store.
She says items she expects will do well online include plasma and high definition T-V's, apparel and general goods for the home.
