Colorado prosecutor decides against charges in organ donation case
MONTROSE, Colo. A Colorado prosecutor won't file criminal charges against doctors accused of harvesting a suicide victim's organs before making sure he was dead. The district attorney says he agrees with a panel of experts who concluded that the man was legally brain dead.
A coroner said last week William Rardin died from "removal of his internal organs by an organ recovery team." Coroner Mark Young ruled the death a homicide.
Young is questioning the fairness of the review and says he wasn't allowed to present his findings to the expert panel.
He says a neurosurgeon will review case records.
