Sports: McAlister accepts seven-year pact
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

LANDOVER, Md. Ravens cornerback Chris McAlister has shed his unwanted tag as the Baltimore Ravens' franchise player. McAlister has signed a seven-year contract that will enable Baltimore to keep the Pro Bowl player through 2010.

McAlister has been the team's franchise player for two straight seasons. He sat out most of training camp this summer in protest of the franchise label.

The 27-year-old McAlister was drafted by the Ravens with the tenth overall pick in the 1999 draft. He earned a Pro Bowl berth for the first time last season after intercepting three passes and batting away 16 others.

His 15 career interceptions rank fourth in team history.
