Recovery effort winds down in Egypt
Email to a Friend Printer Friendly Version

TABA, Egypt The head of the Israeli rescue effort says his group is in "the last stage of recovery" in the Egypt resort bombings.

No bodies have been found since last night.

The bombings Thursday killed at least 34 people, many at the Taba Hilton.

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's Cabinet was briefed on the bombings today.

Sharon says in an Israeli newspaper interview published today that he has no intention of closing the border with Sinai. But he does criticize Israelis for staying there despite warnings to leave.

Egypt has detained dozens of Bedouin (BEH'-doh-in) tribesmen on suspicion of providing the explosives. Investigators say they suspect a group of eight to ten terrorists carried out the attacks, possibly slipping in from Saudi Arabia or Jordan on speed boats.
