Video surfaces of beheading
Note nature BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) _ On a new videotape, British hostage Kenneth Bigley says he just wants to "live a simple life" -- moments before he is beheaded in Iraq. The videotape appeared today on an Islamist Web site, two days after Bigley's family said it had proof that the 62-year-old civil engineer had been killed.
The tape showed Bigley, dressed in an orange prison-style jump suit and seated in front of seven armed, hooded men. In a brief statement, he once again appealed for his life, saying "I am a simple man who wants to live a simple life."
He also tells British Prime Minister Tony Blair that he is "very, very close" to the end of his life and needs his help more than ever.
One of the kidnappers then speaks, saying the British government had lied and did not take the threat to kill Bigley seriously. Suddenly, the speaker draws a knife, and three others grab Bigley and hold him down as he is decapitated.
There are reports that Bigley was killed after an escape attempt failed.
