BAGHDAD, Iraq Officials say as many as eight people died when two explosions in rapid succession shook Baghdad. One took place near a downtown police academy where police say eight people were killed and three wounded. Associated Press Television News footage showed at least four mangled bodies strewn in the street. Officials say it's not clear whether a bomb or missile caused the blast.
Police say a vehicle packed with explosives detonated near a small market in the area of the Culture Ministry, wounding at least one bystander and leaving a gaping crater in the road. The bomb may have been targeting a passing American convoy.
